WATERTOWN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 13, 2003--Bright Horizons Family Solutions (NASDAQ: BFAM), the nation's leading provider of employer-sponsored child care, early education, and work/life consulting, has been named to Fortune magazine's prestigious list of "100 Best Companies to Work for in America." Coming it at #44, Bright Horizons is the highest-ranking company headquartered in Massachusetts on the list. This marks the fourth year Bright Horizons has been named to the list and the second year in a row that the company has been the #1 workplace for women.

Fortune magazine annually recognizes those employers that go beyond industry standards to support their employees and create great places to work. More than 1,000 companies were considered for this year's "Best Companies to Work For" ranking. Companies are evaluated based on surveys of a random sample of employees and are scrutinized for their human resources policies and overall work environments. This year's ranking uncovered those companies with people practices that have stood the test of time. As the magazine notes, "In the good times (companies) go wild with the perks...But the real test comes in tough times."

"In this time of economic turbulence, the most basic support we can provide our employees is a culture of integrity and stability. The Fortune ranking reinforces to us that a true commitment to supportive policies and programs, combined with a mission-driven culture, allows our employees to have great pride in being part of the Bright Horizons family," said Bright Horizons CEO David Lissy. "We are honored once again to be recognized alongside a group of such highly respected employers, and we congratulate the many Bright Horizons clients who were also named 'Great Places to Work.'"

"It is especially gratifying to be recognized for our efforts to professionalize the work of early educators who too often go under-recognized for the important work they do. And as Fortune's number one company for women, we plan to continue to lead by example, by providing critical supports to our working parents. After all, being the recognized employer of choice in our field is critical to our business success and our commitment to the children and families we serve," said Bright Horizons President and COO Mary Ann Tocio.

Complete rankings and details can be found in the January 20, 2003 issue of Fortune, now available on newsstands, and at www.fortune.com.
