Bright Horizons Elects David Gergen to Board of Directors
WATERTOWN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 27, 2004--Bright Horizons Family Solutions (NASDAQ: BFAM), the world's leading provider of employer-sponsored child care, early education, and work/life solutions, today announced that David Gergen has been elected to its Board of Directors.
Gergen, an advisor to Presidents Reagan, Clinton, Ford and Nixon, currently serves as editor-at-large at U.S. News and World Report and is a professor of public service and the director of the Center for Public Leadership at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. He regularly serves as a political analyst on various news shows and frequently lectures at venues worldwide. In 2000, he published his book, Eyewitness to Power: The Essence of Leadership, Nixon to Clinton.

Bright Horizons is the first corporate board on which Gergen has accepted a nomination to serve. He does serve on the Board of Directors of a number of civic and not-for-profit organizations, including American Assembly, Aspen Institute, City Year, Innovations in Government Program, National Council Against Teenage Pregnancy, Center for the Study of the Presidency, the Partnership for Public Service, and the World Resources Institute. He was until recently on the board of Yale University. He has a dozen honorary degrees.
Gergen and his wife, Anne, live in Cambridge, MA and have two grown children. Gergen became a first-time grandfather in May 2004.
