WATERTOWN, Mass., Nov 26, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Roger Brown, CEO and Co-Founder of Bright Horizons Family Solutions (NASDAQ: BFAM), the world's leading provider of employer-sponsored child care, early education and work/life solutions, announced today that Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer David Lissy will be promoted to CEO, and Brown will become Executive Chairman, effective January 1, 2002.

"We now operate child care and early education centers in four nations on two continents. With continued domestic growth and new opportunities abroad, we have expanded our executive team. This move will allow me to focus more intensively on our current clients' needs and those of our prospective clients, our international expansion, and our many growth opportunities among new segments of employers as well as public sources of funding for early childhood education. Dave's tremendous leadership and management abilities and his commitment to high-quality early childhood education programs for clients will be invaluable as he assumes the CEO post," Brown said.

Dave Lissy joined Bright Horizons in 1997 as head of business development and client services. Under his guidance, Bright Horizons has expanded its operations throughout the U.S. and abroad and more than doubled the number of centers in operation. In addition, he has pioneered new services to meet the evolving needs of clients, such as the Network Access Program and Family Child Care Networks. In 1998, Lissy also led the successful integration team for the merger of Bright Horizons and CorporateFamily Solutions. Prior to joining Bright Horizons, Lissy held a variety of management and marketing roles during his 10 years with Aetna US Healthcare, including serving as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the company's New England region.

"This is an exciting and dynamic time in our history, and we are all energized by the opportunities that lie ahead for Bright Horizons and by the talented team we now have in place to meet the operating and growth challenges in front of us. These promotions formalize the leadership structure we have been developing for several years and, combined with the proven talents of President and COO Mary Ann Tocio, they give us the strong and experienced team we need to lead Bright Horizons through a new era of global expansion in employer-sponsored child care and work/life solutions," Brown said.

"I am honored by the confidence Roger Brown and the Board have placed in me to take on this new role," said Lissy. "Over the past several years, we've experienced strong growth and built an organization poised to take advantage of the many opportunities before us. Our ability to partner with clients to provide the finest early education possible while meeting the unique needs of working families will drive our continued success."
